After qualifying as a “hotelier technician”, then as a “qualified technician” at the Strasbourg hotel school, Jean-Luc decided to open his own restaurant with his wife Danièle. In 1977, they settled down together in the restaurant Le Château de Brabois, in Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy.
A few years later, an opportunity presented itself to them, and they decided to relocate to the Nancy town center and opened Le Goéland. Then came Les Pissenlits, a renowned restaurant in which a generous traditional, local cuisine is served in a warm and friendly setting - at bistrot rates.
In 2003, the restaurant located at 25 bis Rue des Ponts went for sale, providing the couple - now joined by their son - with an excellent opportunity. The premise offered an ideal location and its architecture, comprising a small room on the ground floor and a vast, arched cellar, was ideally suited to passionate discussions about wine. Vins et Tartines was born! Jean-Luc is also a Maître Cuisinier de France, and was awarded the honorary title of “Maître Restaurateur” in 2009.
Having studied the same subjects as her husband, Danièle - a Maître Sommelier certified by the Union de la Sommellerie Française and two-time finalist of the Meilleur Sommelier de France competition - has always been genuinely fascinated by wine. She enjoys purchasing rare products from small winegrowers and suggesting unconventional wines, grown with genuine commitment, at very fair prices.
Jean Sébastien, who studied in the same hotel school as his parents and obtained the same qualifications as them, was immersed in his parents’ commitment to their trade as restaurant managers. He first worked for other establishments to perfect his knowledge in the field of hotel management, among others, before returning to the company that trained him and has since become known as “Intercontinental”.
In 1999, he decided to join his parents to help them expand their business, and created a joint project with them. He has played an integral role in the creation and management both restaurants , Les Pissenlits and Vins et Tartines, and the takeover of the two Hôtel-Restaurant Cottage establishments. In 2009, he was awarded the title of Maître Restaurateur.
This successful family-run business always pays great attention to each guest’s satisfaction. |
